Lack of Afro

UK-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Adam Gibbons has released two albums under the above moniker and just recently released his third, "This Time" in September.

Think '60s or '70s uptempo soul/funk. The first track below features rappers Wax and Herbal T on it; the second is one of Gibbons' more "popular" tracks. I believe this first video was shot by my good friend and fellow blogger, WhipptsONwkdayz.

Take a moment and enjoy this sound. And forget about me filming that Predators remake about a year ago. Poor form, I realize.

Pickwick - Get to Know 'Em

My sister's boyfriend introduced me to these guys and one listen to "Hacienda Motel" blew me away.

You can get their stuff here: http://pickwick.bandcamp.com/.

They're from Seattle and, without trying to be too blasphemous, they sort of sound like the lovechild of the Black Keys and Fitz and the Tantrums. As the blog Folkhive succintly put it: "White dudes, man. White dudes with some serious fucking soul."

Daychanger

This track has been floating around the world wide web ("www") for awhile, but the modern-day Bill Withers just released a video to accompany the track:

Enjoy.
