Ella Eyre - If I Go

Devo:  Your girlfriend/wife/significant other is going to be listening to Ella Eyre this summer/fall.  You can decide if you want to introduce her to them or not.

Tiger Love - Summer Rain

Ding:  Now I've heard a couple songs from Tiger Love that transcend novelty and I'm frustrated.  Who are these guys?  Where are they?  Where is Tiger Love on the band realness index of ambiguously legitimate bands?  Are they more or less real than MIlli Vanilii?  Spinal Tap?  Stillwater?

The Kite String Tangle - Given the Chance

Hollering:  Randomly came across this song today and can't get enough of it.  Feels like an upbeat James Blake.  Late 80s/Early 90s pop-synth.  Over-sized sweatshirts and neon colors.  I'm bad at describing music things.  Lil' mama in the video is fly, too.

Bas - Charles De Gaulle to JFK (Last Winter)

Ding:  Shout out to Shmoo for putting me on this dude Bas rappin under J Cole.  Killin it on heavy ro and whatnot.  Big things at SXSW this year, from what I hear.  Who's this Charles De Gaulle guy?

May 2014

Kishi Bashi - Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It!

Foggy Goggles: Remember that cohesive, 12-song journey where you made love to a pretty blond girl at her father's house on Martha's Vineyard. In the rain. While crying.

Stromae - Formidable

Devo: Stromae is a half-black Belgian rapper. He's apparently a big deal everywhere that speaks French. Apologies in advance if you find yourself stuck on this, 44m listens on Spotify with limited American involvement predicates a serious earworm.

TOBACCO - Father Sister Berzerker

Hollering: If I ran, I imagine this would be a great song to listen to.

CARL: His song "Streaker" is pretty dope, too, and the vid is creepy as fuck and directed by Eric Wareheim.

Jurassic 5 - The Way We Do It

Adrien Brody: I just stepped into a time machine to the early aughts.

April 2014

SOHN - The Wheel

Ding: Nice recco on the SOHN disc, guys. Can't wait for somebody to do a face-melting EDM remix of Lights.

Big Data - Dangerous

Whiskey: Hadn't heard of this group until this song, so I googled them and this is what it said: "Big Data is an electronic pop duo whose music and lyrics focus on the hazards of the Internet age, in particular with respect to user privacy and NSA surveillance." NERDS. But setting aside how weird these guys must be, this is pretty straightforward power pop shit from 1982.

Todd Terje - Delorean Dynamite

Tatarsky: Painful craving for a box of whip-its. Also a great one for your next jog.

Young & Sick - Heartache Fetish

Foggy Goggles: I stumbled upon these guys on some 'bands you missed at Coachella' list. One album and its phenomenal, electro rock with heavy male vocal harmonies, somewhere between old Yeaysayer and new disco.

Son Little - Cross My Heart

Kyle: My man's had a few previous musical incarnations. Criminal that these songs he's put out as Son Little haven't gotten more attention.
